Workshop Recap: Organ-On-a-Chip
It has been a real pleasure teaming up with the LUMC at the 6th of May to create a workshop all around Organ-On-a-Chip. The event was organized in collaboration with Hanna Lammertse from LUMC and Linn Aune from FLUIGENT.
- There were very insightful talks from experts from this field: Carlo Alberto Paggi, PhD from chiron and Dik van Gent from Erasmus MC, Valeria Orlova and Merve Bulut from LUMC.
- There were 3 different hands-on sessions with our colleagues Felix Rogowitz and Joseph Farah showcasing what is possible with our FLUIGENT products.
- The participants also got a little tour in the lab where Maury Wiendels and Merve Bulut showed their current work on Organ-on-a-chip.
- The day ended with networking drinks discussing future trends and current research areas!
There will be more to come from the Leiden-University-Medical Center as they are just also setting up their Organ-On-a-Chip Center (part of renew Leiden). Stay tuned!
Agenda:
✅ Introduction to Microfluidics and FLUIGENT Technology
✅Application Talks:
- Merve Bulut: 3D vessel-on-chip model to study the interaction of hiPSC-derived endothelial cells and monocytes.
- Valeria Orlova from LUMC: 3D vessels on a chip to model vascular disease and beyond.
- Carlo Alberto Paggi from Chiron: Discussing mechanical stimulation and its effects on metabolic behavior of cells and aggregates.
- Dik van Gent from Erasmus MC: Breast cancer tissue slices on chip.
✅ Hands-on Sessions:
Organ-on-a-Chip Perfusion Platform and Microfluidic Perfusion Setup: Felix Rogowitz and Joseph Farah from FLUIGENT, and Maury Wiendels from LUMC: Demonstrating advanced perfusion systems.
