2024 marks Fluigent’s 14th year participating in MicroTAS!
This year, the leading conference for microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip studies is back in Montreal, Canada.
What is MicroTAS?
MicroTAS 2024 is the 28th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences, a key annual event in the field of microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip technologies, and related disciplines. The conference addresses scientists and engineers working in the field who are interested in current events and research breakthroughs in related life science issues (chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering in miniaturized systems).
The congress covers a broad range of topics, including:
- Microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip technologies
- Biosensors and diagnostics
- Organs-on-chips
- Nanotechnology and nanobiotechnology
- Single-cell analysis
- Point-of-care devices
- New materials and fabrication techniques
Researchers, academics, and industry professionals attend to present their work, participate in workshops, and engage in discussions on the latest advancements in these fields. Over 900 worldwide scientists and professionals engaged in research on the use of integrated microsystems will attend the 28th MicroTas exhibit.
µTAS 2024 will entail of a series of conferences that are the premier forum for reporting research results in microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology, integration, materials and surfaces, analysis and synthesis, and detection technologies for life sciences and chemistry. Many speakers will also present on a wide range of topics in the field of miniaturized tools.

Workshop
Standardized approaches to facilitate the development and production of microfluidic products
By Joseph Farah PhD
We participated in the workshop “Standardized Approaches to Facilitate the Development and Production of Microfluidic Products,” organized by the “Microfluidic Association” in collaboration with Chipchop (Claudia Gärtner, CEO of microfluidic ChipShop, and Marko Blom, CTO of Micronit).
It was an opportunity to highlight our commitment to standardization in microfluidics (standards for our products, transitioning from research to OEM, easy connectivity through standards such as RS 232, etc.). This workshop was accompanied by a practical session featuring our products, followed by a panel discussion.

Industrial Talk by Fluigent’s expert
Title: Challenges of mastering and automating flow control for cell culture
By Joseph Farah PhD
Current solutions for cell culture experiments can be cumbersome and are mostly designed for microfluidic experts. Stable delivery of liquids to microfluidic systems is essential for their reproducible functioning, especially when supplying flows to organs-on-chips.
Sustain a Unidirectional recirculation of medium while maintaining a constant flow rate for a long period of time (> 7days) represents a key challenge that if addressed benefit a better production of the microphysiological behavior of organs.
